On May 13th 2023, we were able to meet in person and have our Gala Event to raise funds for the work APM does improving healthcare in Africa, after a 3-year hiatus due to covid. It was a very well attended evening by friends and supporters of APM and was hosted by the ever-vibrant Dr Jay- Sheree Allen Akambase!
As always there was the exposure to African culture, this year we had the performances of Carolyne Naomi with her unique blend of Afro beats music which blends her Nigerian heritage with her life in Minnesota and Nii Box (Mensah) on the African Xylophone whose dexterity and compositions held us all spellbound.
Dr Jason Homme, who continues to serve as the Conference Director of the Young Doctors and Nurses Conference put on annually by APM in Ghana, spoke about the resilience of Africa Partners Medical during the pandemic. He spoke about the impact we continued to have through the use of digital tools, to continue to improve healthcare in Africa, even when we couldn’t be there in person. The next two speakers, Dr Emanuella Salia and Dr Felix Wireku, both alumni of the conference, spoke about the improvement in health care delivery, the difference education and partnership of APM had made in their practice of medicine as well as that of their peers. They had testimonials highlighting the improved health outcomes for their patients and lives saved. It was a truly heartwarming evening.
Ms. Katie Imholte of Fladeboe Auctions, raised the tempo significantly auctioning off wonderful vacations and art work for a great cause and the friends of APM did not disappoint and truly entered into the spirit of the evening raising over $90,000 dollars to further the work being done.
Thank you to everyone that participated and gave so generously that evening to prevent needless death in Africa.
